The book ‘EDUROVs 7 years of initiative’, written by María José Rueda, Carlos Rodríguez and Irene Sastre, has been published by the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN). This book includes the evolution of the EDUROVs Marine Robotics Educational Initiative between 2012 and 2019, the statistics elaborated based on all the editions and the future initiatives, such as the expansion of EDUROVs to the Macaronesian region.
The EDUROVs Marine Robotics Educational Initiative, led by the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) proposes the construction of programmable marine robots in several areas for educational purposes, from low cost tools, with free hardware and software, with the aim of stimulating young people’s vocations towards technical disciplines in order to awaken motivation and interest in science and technology and in the knowledge of the ocean.
This publication is included in the activities of the project CODIMAR – Communication and Dissemination of Activities in the Marine-Maritime Sector as part of its support for disseminating events and projects, with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECyT), the Cabildo (Island Government) of Gran Canaria and the La Caixa Foundation.
