Glider School

The Glider School is a reference training school in marine glider technology held annually by the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN). Its didactic contents cover hardware and software aspects through specific theoretical and practical sessions in classroom, laboratory and open water using glider units of different technologies (Waveglider, Slocum, Seaglider and Seaexplorer), focusing on the characteristics of each technology, its capabilities and applications.

PLOCAN is an initiative committed both to its surrounding socio-economic environment and to international excellence in science and technology. That is why it is promoting this call, which is aimed at university students in the marine-maritime and technological fields, as well as technicians/professionals in the sector. The aim is to train them in theoretical and practical skills and abilities related to underwater vehicles, such as gliders.
