PLOCAN is a Singular Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) for research, development and innovation in the field of marine science and technologies. It is financed by the joint initiative of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Government of Spain through the MINECO, and is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). PLOCAN’s purpose is to help bring the best research, technological development and innovation to market as quickly as possible to produce economic growth and jobs, through efficient access to the ocean at increasing depths and in an environmentally sustainable manner.

  • Real Estate: The facilities currently occupied by the PLOCAN Consortium correspond to the former Canary Islands Institute of Marine Sciences, facilities that were ceded by the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands on 2 August 2013 to the PLOCAN Consortium to be used for its own marine-maritime R+D+i and/or education activities, with the prior authorisation of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the owner of the same.
