The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) has joined the OCEANS 2024 IEEE/MTS conference, a biannual international forum that seeks to advance and promote ocean sciences and technologies in interdisciplinary fields from a public-private perspective through the participation of leading institutions and companies of the sector.
Promoted by the international organisations Ocean Engineering Society (IEEE/OES) and the Marine Technology Society (MTS), and endorsed by the United Nations 2030 Ocean Decade program (UN Decade), the conference took place from 14 to April 18, 2024 in Singapore, with a final balance of 2.700 attendees, 600 scientific-technical works presented and more than one hundred international leading exhibitors in the sector.
In this edition, with the central theme Climate Resilience, Coastal Protection and a Sustainable Ocean, PLOCAN has contributed as organizer and panelist of a thematic session in the conference program related to Innovation, Scalability and Efficiency in Ocean Observation Technologies, under the name “Ocean Observing Platforms and Technologies for Ocean Decade: Perspectives and Prospects” joined by leading speakers from both the academic and industrial fields. PLOCAN’s contribution is framed as dissemination action of the TechOceans project.

The TechOceans project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Grant Agreement No. 101000858.
