The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) organized the technological innovation session at the recent JERICO-S3 2024 General Assembly.
Held from April 18 to 21 in Brest, France, the event brought together experts and representatives from major European coastal research infrastructures.
Eric Delory, PLOCAN’s representative and leader of Work Package 7 (WP7) on Technological Innovation, played a significant role during the assembly. His participation included representing PLOCAN in key discussions on sustainability and efficient governance of research infrastructures. Additionally, new opportunities for collaborations between research infrastructures with entities such as EuroArgo, EMSO, ICOS, and DANUBIUS were explored.
A highlight of the event was the session dedicated to industry interaction. In this session, the latest innovations in sensors, platforms, and services were presented. Companies like ALSEAMAR, RBR, SEABER, NKE, OCEANOVOX, and FAIRSCOPE delivered presentations that sparked lively discussions on how research infrastructures can benefit the industry and vice versa.
The session concluded with a panel discussion on ways to enhance the competitiveness and visibility of JERICO-S3 through technological interconnection between infrastructures. Delory moderated the discussions, gathering input from industry stakeholders on their needs and collaboration perspectives.
