The economist Fernando Redondo, exemplary person for his public and solidarity vocation, passed away

The economist Fernando Redondo Rodríguez, member of the Advisory Committee for Socioeconomic Activities of PLOCAN (CASE), former Minister of Territorial Policy of the Government of the Canary Islands, former deputy of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, former president of the Economic and Social Council and former dean of the College of Economists of Las Palmas, among other important responsibilities carried out during his life, has passed away leaving a significant void, due to the sudden and unexpected absence of an exemplary person for his public and solidarity vocation.

Fernando Redondo’s career has stood out in the defense of social values, public education, the environment and numerous causes in which he compromised his intelligence and dedication to the progress of the Canary Islands, with great intellectual rigour and sense of dialogue, helping to open important spaces for citizen expression and debate.

At PLOCAN we are very grateful to him for the important contributions he made as a member of CASE, the consultative body of the Consortium of which he was a part since its constitution and whose objective is to advise on PLOCAN’s scientific and technological activities, programs and plans, as well as to propose actions that may guide the Consortium’s work to contribute to the sustainable socio-economic development of ocean activities.

It is with great sadness for his loss that the members of  the PLOCAN’s Governing Council express our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
