UPWELLING: Unlocking Potential for Workforce Excellence, Leadership, and Innovation in the Next-Gen Blue Economy
UPWELLING boosts the Atlantic Area’s blue economy by creating a transnational network and the UPWELLING Academy, offering training in emerging marine technologies and prototyping activities. It improves access to infrastructure, fosters regional cooperation, and supports SMEs and startups. The initiative promotes talent development and marine resource integration across Spain, Ireland, Portugal, and France.
The UPWELLING project addresses critical challenges facing the Atlantic Area (AA) blue economy, including the skills gap, limited access to marine infrastructure, and weak collaboration among stakeholders. To bridge these gaps, UPWELLING establishes a transnational network and the UPWELLING Academy, offering specialized training in emerging marine technologies and facilitating prototyping activities. This initiative empowers SMEs and startups while nurturing a new generation of skilled professionals.
Key outputs include:
- A digital platform integrating marine infrastructure services and job offers.
- The UPWELLING Academy with specialized training programs.
- Collaborative hackathons.
- Proof-of-concept activities.
- A comprehensive set of educational resources.
By fostering transnational cooperation between partners from Spain, Ireland, Portugal, and France, UPWELLING leverages regional strengths to enhance knowledge sharing and marine resource integration, supporting the growth of the AA’s blue economy.
