BEAM NETWORK: Mid-Atlantic Test Site Network, validating new ocean technologies from concept to market

The REDBEAM project aims to create a distributed Hub for testing and validating emerging ocean technologies in Macaronesia and West Africa. It promotes marine innovation, boosts the regional blue economy, fosters public-private cooperation, and enhances the international visibility of local marine-maritime businesses.

Mid-Atlantic Testbeds Network: validating new ocean technologies from concept to market is a project submitted to the E.O. 1.1 on developing and enhancing research and innovation capabilities and uptake of advanced technologies.

Its objective is to create a distributed Hub of testbeds for the development, testing and validation of emerging and disruptive ocean technologies in the Macaronesian and West African region to improve the research and innovation capacities of local companies related to the marine-maritime field to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the ocean surrounding the ORs, to respond to the specific business needs of the region by increasing their international visibility, to generate synergies that favour business cooperation and public-private collaboration and to support, in a sustainable way, the emerging innovative ecosystem of the ORs.

Territorial cooperation is found in the very concept of the Distributed Trials Hub because the aim is to decentralise the activity by adding the differential characteristics of each region to increase the scope of the objective. The added value of the proposal lies in generating a space for the development of technological innovation that allows the region to lead the development of the Mid-Atlantic blue economy.
