ESTRAMAR: Marine-Maritime R&D&I Strategy in Macaronesia

The aim of the project is to promote Marine-Maritime R+D+i in the European and African Macaronesian regions so that its approaches and results are aimed at contributing to the better articulation of the scientific-technical-business system, in fields such as the safety and sustainability of transport, maritime tourism and ports, the increased protection of coastal areas, marine resources and biodiversity and the forecasting and management of natural risks, and in this way contribute to boosting the socio-economic development of these regions, in line with international objectives.

Thus, the project represents a specific contribution to improve the insufficient R+D+i system in a specific area such as the Marine/Maritime area, where the Macaronesian regions have their own conditions and potential which, if exploited, will contribute significant values to their development. Previous experience and established agreements between partners and other actors in the sector ensure that a solid basis for cooperation and financial sustainability will continue to be strengthened.
