EMSODEV: EMSO implementation and operation: Development of instrument module

The overall objective of EMSODEV is to drive the full implementation and operation of the EMSO distributed research infrastructure, through the development, testing and deployment of an EMSO Generic Instrument Module (EGIM).

This module will ensure accurate, consistent, comparable, regional-scale and long-term measurements of ocean parameters, which are essential to address urgent societal and scientific challenges such as climate change, ocean ecosystem disruption and marine hazards. This will result in increased interoperability of EMSO nodes through the harmonised collection of key ocean time series variables.

In addition, EGIM will also help to optimise the investments and operational efficiency of the EMSO research infrastructure by improving the effectiveness of research infrastructures and their attractiveness to member states and users, including industry.
