/// PROJECTS
The main objective of the “Blue Emissions and Sounds (EduBlue)” project is to promote environmental awareness among secondary school students in Gran Canaria, making them aware of the importance of protecting marine ecosystems and marine biodiversity, as well as encouraging education in renewable energies and stimulating critical thinking and scientific research. To this end, activities will be developed that include the creation and use of an educational kit that allows students to build and study a model of a floating wind device with renewable hydrogen generation, comparing the environmental impact of renewable energies versus fossil fuels in terms of CO2 emissions and underwater noise.
The project will be carried out in 15 schools in Gran Canaria, reaching 375 students and 22 teachers. The implementation will be supported by a PLOCAN technical team and a STEM/environmental monitor, who will supervise the activities and provide scientific advice. There will be theoretical and practical sessions for students, specific training for teachers, assembly of kits in schools, presentation and data measurement days at PLOCAN, development of scientific posters and participation in a junior marine congress. The evaluation of the project will include both quantitative and qualitative impact, ensuring its success and relevance.
With a total estimated budget of €32,860, EduBlue will be developed on the island of Gran Canaria, combining science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) with environmental education to promote responsibility and sustainability among young students.
