The scientific community requires international scientific and technological cooperation to achieve sustainable ocean observation and understanding of the processes involved. At the same time, it is essential to be able to bring the uniqueness of the work carried out by PLOCAN and the facilities and services derived from it closer to society. This project therefore proposes a series of actions for Communication and Dissemination of activities in the marine-maritime sector (CODIMAR) that serve as planning for 2018 for the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit (UCC+i) of PLOCAN created in August 2017.
The CODIMAR project seeks to generate new mechanisms for scientific communication and dissemination, as well as to build on and reinforce ongoing projects and events held in PLOCAN with specific actions. The proposed actions are aimed at society in general, although they consider different target audiences depending on the medium of communication used. The project includes both face-to-face actions, based on interactive exhibitions and workshops, and online actions, making use of PLOCAN’s corporate website and the social networks Facebook and Twitter and the Youtube video container, to make PLOCAN’s projects and events visible and to organise an informative video competition aimed at schoolchildren of different age groups.
The main axis around which the actions developed will be centred will be the lines of activity of PLOCAN, in order to inform society of the activities carried out, especially considering the inauguration of the marine headquarters, scheduled for 2018, which will have great media repercussions.
The CODIMAR project is implemented with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECyT) – Ministry of Science and Technology of Spain.
of Science, Innovation and Universities, the Obra Social de La Caixa and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria.
