CANAUTIC: Canary Islands-Cape Verde Yachting Cooperation Platform

The CANAUTIC project seeks, through collaborative work between institutions in the marine-maritime field in the Canary Islands and Cape Verde, to promote Sustainable Territorial Development through the integration of economic activities in the coastal areas of the Canary Islands and Cape Verde, establishing a framework for the rational use of the coastal zone based on social, economic and environmental criteria. The project is divided into three distinct phases:

  • First phase: identification of port infrastructures dedicated to nautical activities and environmental and socio-economic diagnosis. As an element of sustainability, a study will be carried out on the use of renewable energy sources in port infrastructures linked to the Cape Verdean and Canary Islands yachting sector.
  • Second phase: as differentiating elements, maps of coastal uses will be available, focusing on uses linked to nautical sports. In addition, the nautical connection routes between the Canary Islands and Cape Verde will be described and fed into the GIS Web portal CANAUTIC. On the other hand, the CANAUTIC Technical Conferences will be held.
  • Third phase: launching of the CANAUTIC Cooperation Platform and the implementation of a communication plan for the project.
