Professor Chris Reason -University of Cape Town- visits PLOCAN

Professor Chris Reason, Department of Oceanography, Faculty of Sciences of the University of Cape Town (South Africa), has visited PLOCAN facilities as part of his activities during the stay he is conducting in Gran Canaria in collaboration with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC).

Joined by representatives of the OFyGA/ECOAQUA research group of ULPGC and PLOCAN itself, Professor Reason toured the ICTS facilities, with special interest in the ocean vehicles laboratory (VIMAS). Professor Reason is an expert in Southern hemisphere oceanography and climatology, with special scientific interest in studies of climate variability and change in the Southern basin of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, coastal and mesoscale meteorology, severe climate, oceanic and atmospheric models.

The visit of Professor Reason enables to strengthen collaboration between PLOCAN, the ULPGC and the University of Cape Town, promoting the exchange of knowledge and identifying future opportunities for scientific-technical cooperation in the field of ocean sciences and marine technologies.
