PLOCAN receives the “Makers of Change” Award together with Radio ECCA, the ICI and the Elder Museum

PLOCAN, Radio ECCA, the Elder Museum of Science and Technology of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the Equality Institute of the Canary Islands have been awarded in the third edition of the ‘Makers of Change’ Awards.

The “Makers of Change” Awards is an initiative of the “Makers of Change” Association to highlight and appreciate the work of people, companies and entities that help change the world. The awards were presented at an event held at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology.

PLOCAN has been recognized for its effort to make the Canary Islands a benchmark in marine research and technologies, the Elder Museum of Science and Technology for the great work developed due to COVID-19, Radio ECCA for more than 50 years promoting training programs in the Canary Islands and the Equality Institute of the Canary Islands for its “Mask 19” campaign.

The director of the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI), Carlos Navarro, opened the event with the presentation “Strategic lines to place the Canary Islands at the forefront of innovation”, and after the awards ceremony a roundtable discussion was held among the awarded guests in which the perspective and resources of each entity were exposed and proposals were exchanged for the improvement of the economic and social situation of the Canary Islands.
