PLOCAN Present at European Ocean Days, Driving the European Marine Agenda

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) is actively participating in the European Ocean Days, a key event in the European marine agenda taking place from March 3 to 7, 2025, in Brussels. This strategic forum provides a fundamental platform for exchanging ideas among diverse blue communities, discussing challenges, and exploring innovative solutions to address interconnected ocean issues.

PLOCAN highlights its presence by showcasing its involvement in two crucial projects: BlueMissionAA and PHAROS. Both projects are highly relevant within the actions of the European Union’s Mission Ocean and Waters, especially in the objective of restoring our oceans and waters. BlueMissionAA serves as a coordination hub for implementing the EU mission to restore ocean and water health in the Atlantic and Arctic basins. PHAROS, on the other hand, focuses on providing nature-based solutions for ecosystem and biodiversity restoration in these maritime regions.

Additionally, PLOCAN has participated in several strategic sessions, including the “Young Voices for the Ocean” program and specific workshops on monitoring indicators for the ocean mission and the catalogue of innovative solutions hosted on the Wavelinks platform.

This participation underscores PLOCAN’s commitment to the protection and sustainable management of oceans, as well as its active role in developing policies and strategies that promote the health and resilience of marine ecosystems at the European level. This year’s European Ocean Days are a key component in preparing the Ocean Pact, a reference framework for all EU ocean-related policies.
