PLOCAN participates in the Networking Days of the Hexagone Strategic Project in Funchal

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) has been present at the networking days of the strategic project HEXAGONE held in Funchal (Madeira), organised by the Directorate General for Economic Affairs with Africa of the Government of the Canary Islands. The event aimed to promote cooperation between European regions and African countries participating in the Interreg MAC programme.

At the green, blue economy and climate change round table, PLOCAN presented its capabilities as an infrastructure offering services to the public and private R&D community, highlighting its participation in Interreg MAC projects such as RIS3_Net2 and SmartBlueF After the presentations, numerous entities from the participating regions had the opportunity to interact looking for possible synergies for the presentation of projects in the next call of the programme that will be opened in the near future.

It should be noted that the current Interreg MAC programme involves Cape Verde, Mauritania and Senegal, but in the new call the geographical area has been extended, incorporating four new African partner countries: Ghana, Gambia, Ivory Coast and Sao Tome and Principe.

PLOCAN’s participation in this networking event demonstrates its commitment to international cooperation in the field of research and sustainable development, as well as its key role in promoting the green and blue economy and the fight against climate change
