PLOCAN has taken part in the Final Conference of the European project BIODIVRESTORE, held in Málaga on 21 and 22 October 2025. The initiative is jointly led by the Biodiversa+ and Water4All networks within the framework of the ERA-NET COFUND programme.
The event brought together project representatives, policy-makers, researchers, and professionals committed to ecosystem restoration, in line with the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.
During the conference, the results of 22 projects funded since 2020 were presented, as well as the creation of a pan-European Knowledge Hub on Nature Restoration designed to facilitate knowledge exchange, connect initiatives, and support the design of national restoration plans.
PLOCAN: a strategic infrastructure in service of biodiversity
PLOCAN’s participation in this forum is aligned with its commitment to the responsible and participative management of marine ecosystems, and with its role as a Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) within both the Spanish and European systems.
Attendance at the event enabled the establishment of synergies with key institutions such as the European Commission, CIIMAR, the University of Málaga, and Water4All, strengthening PLOCAN’s positioning as a relevant stakeholder in future biodiversity and restoration initiatives under the Horizon Europe programme.
In doing so, PLOCAN continues to reinforce its participation in international networks, driving knowledge transfer and positioning itself as a strategic partner to address the challenges posed by the ecological restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems.
