PLOCAN joins the Autonomous Ship Expo & Conference 2024

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) has joined the 2024’s edition of the Autonomous Ship Expo & Conference, an international leading forum for the unmanned maritime navigation sector, held in Amsterdam within the framework of the Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo 2024, with an approximate final balance of 2,500 attendees, 150 speakers and 250 leading exhibitors in the sector.

PLOCAN has contributed to the event agenda by showing its unique capabilities as scientific-technical infrastructure concerning to autonomous ocean-vehicles (USV) together with leaders from the international academic and industrial field in thematic sessions related to the state of the art of MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship); regulatory framework and legal responsibility; data; connectivity and cybersecurity; test-site facilities, tests and validation procedures; positioning and perception; training, good practices and operational procedures.

PLOCAN’s contribution to the event is framed as dissemination action of the activities undertaken on the state of the industry sector, future technological trends and synergies with the user community within the framework of the MINKE project, which brings together 16 European marine metrology research infrastructures, key to enable an innovative quality of the oceanographic data framework, from the essential ocean variables (EOVs) as the key parameters to monitor, adopting a multidimensional framework of data quality: accuracy and exhaustiveness.

The MINKE project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program under Grant Agreement No. 101008724.
