PLOCAN has hosted the Marine and Freshwater Restoration Initiatives Showcase, organized by the BlueMissionAA project, bringing together experts and professionals from various fields and entities to share knowledge and experiences in aquatic ecosystem restoration.
Prior to the showcase, a workshop was held for students and researchers at the Faculty of Marine Sciences of ULPGC. This workshop provided a platform to explore relevant topics and engage attendees on sustainable practices in marine restoration.
During the two-day event, participants attended presentations on innovative projects, interactive sessions, and flash talks addressing crucial topics such as coastal and marine habitat restoration, water quality improvement, and mitigation of climate change effects on aquatic ecosystems.
Concurrently, there was participation in several MacaroNight sessions, which included activities for school audiences in the mornings and a specific session on nature-based solutions in the afternoon. This participation further enriched the exchange of ideas and fostered interest in marine conservation among new generations and the general public.
The event, part of the activities of the EU-funded BlueMissionAA project, saw participation from representatives of research institutions, companies, entities, and public administrations from various European countries.
This showcase has been a unique opportunity to foster collaboration between different sectors and promote innovative solutions for the restoration of our oceans and waters, in line with the objectives of the EU Mission “Restore our oceans and waters by 2030”.
PLOCAN, as host and partner entity of the BlueMissionAA project, reaffirms its commitment to research and innovation in the marine field, actively contributing to the search for solutions to the challenges facing our aquatic ecosystems.
