PLOCAN at FIMAR 2022 to promote the offshore platform and the EDUROVs educational programme

PLOCAN participated in the International Maritime Fair (FIMAR) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with outreach activities to bring its work closer to the public and to promote careers in technology among young people within the framework of EDUROVs, a European educational programme.

FIMAR is a leading regional fair for the nautical and marine and maritime sector of the Canary Islands. Its aim is to boost the blue economy and it is held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, promoted by the Gran Canaria Island Council, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Port Authority of Las Palmas, and organised by INFECAR and the Ciudad de Mar council.

In its pavilion, PLOCAN presented a virtual tour of the offshore platform located in the sea one mile off the coast of Jinámar using virtual reality glasses, gave secondary school students a demonstration of green hydrogen production and provided robotic boats from the primary school robotics project to the youngest children.

EDUROVs is an educational programme that seeks to bring students closer to science and technology in a practical way and to arouse interest in professional careers in the field of technology. It has financial support from the Department of Economic Development, Energy Sovereignty, Climate and Knowledge of the Gran Canaria Island Council and PLOCAN.
