PLOCAN awarded National Security Scheme (ENS) certification in the medium category

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) has obtained certification under the National Security Scheme (ENS) in accordance with Royal Decree 311/2022, achieving the medium category. The audit and certification were carried out by OCA Global.

The scope of the certification covers the information systems that support PLOCAN’s security, information and development services. Among the aspects highlighted by the certifying body are the high level of infrastructure security and the integration of external researchers within the protection measures.

The ENS is the regulatory framework that sets out the principles and minimum requirements for protecting public sector information and electronic services, as well as its wider ecosystem. Its current regulation is established in Royal Decree 311/2022, which replaced RD 3/2010.

OCA Global is accredited by ENAC to certify the ENS based on RD 311/2022, which authorises it to conduct compliance audits in line with the updated scheme.

With this milestone, PLOCAN strengthens its commitment to cybersecurity and continuous improvement in the delivery of scientific and technical services, ensuring increased levels of trust for its staff, collaborators and partner organisations.
