The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) joins this week the Undersea Defense Technology (UDT) 2025, the main international forum on underwater surveillance and intervention technologies in strategic sectors of the Blue Economy such as navigation, communications, energy, defense, security, among others. The event is held in Oslo (Norway), as European leading hub for the ocean technologies industry.
PLOCAN contributes to the event promoting its capabilities as marine test-site and service infrastructure related to these ocean technologies, through its involvement in European leading projects in the field of robotics, sensors, digital twin and regulatory framework, mainly, as well as its own training initiatives, partnership with leading companies in the sector and the involvement in national and international working groups in this field, all in support of the Blue Economy strategy for the Canary Islands with a remarkable and aligned international perspective.
Under the central theme “Innovate, Collaborate, Deliver”, UDT2025 examines in detail the adaptation of the underwater industry to address challenges and opportunities in specific contexts such as underwater security and surveillance in critical infrastructures, underwater autonomy, digitalization, etc. In this context, leading industries in the sector exhibit their latest innovations in robotics and unmanned mobile systems, sensors and components, applications and services, highly qualified training, operations planning and control, new technologies and support tools for marine autonomous systems (AI, ML, etc.), among others.
At the same time, a wide and varied programme of conferences addresses thematic sessions of common interest in the sector, including aspects related to innovation, regulatory framework, business development, services, among others, in navigation, intervention, autonomy, sensors, monitoring, data management, etc. related to underwater technologies in order to optimise the inter-sectorial value chain from the perspective of the triple helix.
