The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands has participated in the Educational Leisure Meeting ‘Immersive Journey to Our Marine Ecosystems’ on the occasion of the Miniferias Programme for Science and Innovation in the Canary Islands 2024, organised by the Regional Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Canary Islands Government, through the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society.
The main objective of the event, which combines technology, learning and play, was to promote commitment to the protection of our marine ecosystems and knowledge of the Research Centres and Units, as well as companies and other entities working in this field.
Within this educational leisure activity, various stations were set up where participants had to face challenges and answer related questions. To achieve this, they were immersed in an immersive 360º video experience, allowing them to get closer to the Research Centres and discover who they are and what they do.
PLOCAN recorded a 360º video in its glider lab that allowed participants to learn about PLOCAN’s work in ocean monitoring and data collection, highlighting the importance of these activities in understanding and preserving our valuable marine ecosystems.
