The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) joined this year’s program designed by the Pequeño Valiente association for its summer camp, opening its facilities to around thirty boys and girls from the organization and their families. The group had the opportunity to visit PLOCAN’s onshore headquarters and learn about the work carried out by the platform in the fields of ocean research, marine technology, and sustainability.
Pequeño Valiente’s summer camp is an initiative aimed at children and young people who are undergoing or have overcome an oncological process, offering recreational, educational, and community-building experiences for them and their families. It provides a safe space that seeks to normalize their daily lives and promote values of resilience, perseverance, and companionship.

During the activity held at the Taliarte facilities, the PLOCAN team delivered tailored talks for the youngest participants, interactive tours, and demonstrations of prototypes and underwater vehicles, making for an engaging and educational day in which the sea and science took center stage.
This initiative is part of PLOCAN’s commitment to opening its doors to the community and collaborating on solidarity and science outreach projects with organizations such as Pequeño Valiente, reaffirming its dedication to inclusion, education in values, and bringing science closer to society as a whole.
