New edition of the Marine Robotics Workshop at PLOCAN

PLOCAN has launched the 2019/2020 edition of the Marine Robotics Workshop, developed within the EDUROVs Marine Robotics Educational Initiative with the collaboration of “La Caixa” Foundation and the Cabildo of Gran Canaria.

The workshops will take place at the land facilities of the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands until May 2020 with the attendance of Primary, Secondary and High School Education students from educational centres of Gran Canaria. Secondary Education students from the CEO Pancho Guerra of San Bartolomé de Tirajana attended the inaugural workshop at PLOCAN.

The EDUROVs Marine Robotics Educational Initiative, led by the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) proposes the construction of programmable marine robots in several areas for educational purposes, from low cost tools, with free hardware and software, with the aim of stimulating young people’s vocations towards technical disciplines in order to awaken motivation and interest in science and technology and in the knowledge of the ocean.
