BlueMissionAA2030 launches a new phase in Dublin to accelerate the restoration of oceans and waters

BlueMissionAA2030 has officially begun its journey with a kick-off meeting held in Dublin, bringing together the consortium partners to coordinate the work of a four-year programme aimed at accelerating the implementation of the European Union Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters” in the Atlantic and Arctic region.

The initiative brings together organisations from Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the United Kingdom in a collaborative approach that will connect scientific and technological capabilities, public authorities, territorial stakeholders, the business sector and citizens, strengthening leadership and social participation in the restoration of aquatic ecosystems.

PLOCAN is participating in BlueMissionAA2030 by contributing its expertise in ocean observation, marine innovation and European cooperation. Its contribution will strengthen the connection between the Mission’s priorities and territorial needs, fostering coordination, knowledge exchange and the creation of partnerships to expand the impact of the solutions.

PLOCAN’s participation in this new phase consolidates its role as a facilitating organisation and a point of connection between research, innovation, public authorities and society, contributing to a more resilient, collaborative and internationally connected blue ecosystem.

The initiative continues the work carried out by BlueMissionAA and focuses on putting into practice the knowledge, tools and collaborative networks generated during the first phase. Its objective is to help protect and restore marine and inland water ecosystems, prevent pollution and advance towards a climate-neutral and circular blue economy.

During the meeting, participants addressed the planning of the first activities and the mechanisms needed to establish coherent, participatory and accountable governance across the Atlantic and Arctic basin. They also worked on integrating the national hubs and the people who will act as Mission focal points into national management and decision-making frameworks.

BlueMissionAA2030 will foster a financial ecosystem that facilitates the launch of activities aligned with the Ocean and Waters Mission. It will also offer accessible support measures to replicate and scale up innovative solutions, and will develop a shared framework for monitoring, synthesis and impact assessment across the region.

BlueMissionAA2030 is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme.
