Students and teachers of the higher cycle in specialized training of the IES Politécnico Las Palmas visited the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) in order to know about the facilities, capacities and activities that the Singular Scientific Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) currently has and undertakes.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the infrastructures, programs and innovative projects carried out at PLOCAN, including ocean-observing systems and marine renewable energies, as well as autonomous ocean-vehicles, among others. They also participated in explanatory sessions given by members of the ICTS who shared their knowledge about innovation and professional opportunities in the marine technologies sector.
This visit is part of the commitment of the IES Politécnico Las Palmas to offer practical and specialized training to its students, bringing them closer to the professional environment and promoting interest in research and technological development. The experience has been valued very positively by both students and teachers, who highlight the importance of this type of activity to complement classroom teaching and motivate future vocations in the ocean technologies sector.
Taking advantage of the meeting, PLOCAN once again highlighted this type of initiatives and interest and conveyed to those responsible for the center the willingness to keep this type of collaboration aimed at strengthening the training of future generations of highly qualified professionals in accordance with the challenges and needs demanded by Blue Growth and ultimately the society.
