The Canary Islands Marine Science programme ThinkInAzul aims to develop actions that facilitate the implementation and expansion of companies, and the incorporation of processes and strategies for sustainable development of the activity in the sector through: the study and selection of new species and production processes, the implementation of actions aimed at overcoming administrative and logistical bottlenecks, the development of a strategic plan for the sustainable development of the sector, and the development of transversal actions for monitoring and tracking the impact of marine aquaculture on the environment to minimise its carbon footprint. To this end, the proposal is based on the coordination, collaboration and transfer of research results and technological solutions between local SECTI actors and the private sector, in an environment of optimisation of services and infrastructures, which contributes to the socio-economic recovery of the Canary Islands through its intelligent diversification based on Marine Aquaculture and Blue Biotechnology in a solid and resilient manner.
