JONAS: Joint Framework for Ocean Noise in the Atlantic Seas

JONAS addresses the threats to biodiversity caused by underwater noise pollution on sensitive species in the NE Atlantic by streamlining ocean noise monitoring and risk management at a transnational level. The Atlantic Arc states need a consistent way to resolve this common cross-border challenge. JONAS will develop and test a noise monitoring platform, harmonise technical approaches to the requirements of the Marine Strategy and Marine Spatial Planning Framework Directive, and promote the adoption of quieter operational practices among users of the NE Atlantic marine space.
