ICTS MARHIS Advanced Management System

The SEAS project aims to adapt and strengthen the management of ICTS MARHIS after its expansion to five nodes, including BiMep and PLOCAN. Its goal is to improve coordination, access, and international visibility of hydraulic and hydrodynamic infrastructures in maritime, naval, and offshore engineering. It will also foster collaboration between nodes, optimizing human and technical resources to consolidate and expand ICTS MARHIS.

The ICTS MARHIS emerged as the join of the CIEM/UPC and CCOB/IHCantabria infrastructures in 2015. Later, it was extended with the CEHIPAR/INTA node, and with the latest revision of the ICTS Map, the BiMep and PLOCAN nodes were included, which make up the 5 current nodes of the distributed ICTS. Although the integration process has been progressive, an ICTS of 2 nodes is not coordinated in the same way, nor with the same means, to a one with 5 nodes, and the means developed within the MARIN and MARIN-DOS projects have been insufficient for the new structure.

The general objective of the SEAS proposal is therefore to adapt and integrate the distributed ICTS management model to the new composition, to add both the human and technical teams, as well as those corresponding to ICTS management tools, both from the point of view of the Access Program and protocol, to the different committees, and objectives of the Strategic Plan presented in 2021.

The achievement of this general objective aims to:

  • Increase the national and international visibility of hydraulic and hydrodynamic infrastructures within the scope of the maritime/naval/offshore engineering
  • Facilitate efficient access for stakeholders
  • Increase the critical mass in personnel and equipment of the ICTS MARHIS
  • Incorporate new complementarities between the fields of knowledge of the initial nodes and the newly incorporated nodes

The work carried out to date has resulted in significant progress in achieving these objectives, but the incorporation of new nodes and the appearance of new fields of work and techniques, as well as complementary services, which have begun to develop between the nodes, they require an added effort to be able to consolidate and at the same time efficiently expand the new ICTS MARHIS.

If the ICTS MARHIS stands out for something, it is for bringing together in the same ICTS infrastructures with the capacity to cover practically all the TRL levels of any technological development. To this end, the SEAS project, as a management platform for the nodes that make up ICTS MARHIS, will begin by coordinating human and material teams, defining and/or updating protocols, and creating or maintaining dissemination material and diffusion tasks. The sum of efforts will allow to consolidate the critical mass at a national and international level in the fields of Maritime/Naval/Ocean Engineering with direct applications at the level of research and technology transfer.
