E5DES: Research and innovation towards excellence in technological efficiency, use of renewable energies, emerging technologies and circular economy in desalination.

E5DES presents 6 strategic lines of R&D&I in desalination and initiatives to carry out the roadmap to increase the visibility and international recognition of desalination, to turn the participating regions into nodes of knowledge production and innovation, and to operate as an ideal geographical space for testing, verification and technology innovation. It is proposed to implement the planned R&D planning of the DESAL+ LIVING LAB: 1) increase the international recognition of the R&D&I services brand and increase collaborations with other Research Centres and Companies; 2) to increase and concentrate the efforts of researchers in the production of innovative solutions for efficiency in desalination and the direct use of renewable energies, circular economy in line with the priorities of the RIS3 and EU Blue Growth; 3) to generate new knowledge and technological innovation in water quality and the water-energy nexus.
